Alaskan Childhood. Discovering City Life. Community Organizing. Psychological Training. Spiritual Spelunker. Return to Mother Earth.
I’ve been an avid explorer of different organic and supernatural realms since I was a latch-key kid growing up with a single mom in the grandeur and strangeness of Alaska and the Pacific Northwest.
I left home when I was 16 and made my way to Los Angeles, which led to many youthful adventures, propelled by my budding understanding of being gay. I started and sustained my career at the Los Angeles LGBT Center for 25 years, where I learned the skills of community organizing, helping to guide the creation of three different service centers supporting the health and empowerment of diverse individuals.
I was drawn to develop a better understanding of the human psyche while still a teenager, and have been studying many different aspects of psychology ever since, including psychoanalytic, existential-humanistic, emotion-focused, and cognitive-behavorial modalities. The work of C.G. Jung has had a particularly strong resonance for me, especially with his elucidation of many meaningful archetypal patterns that motivate our emotions, desires, and actions.
I received my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in psychology at California State University Northridge, and began seeing psychotherapy clients in 2007. I become a California Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in 2011 (#50038), and more recently also became licensed in Alaska (#197115), Arizona (#15575), Colorado (#0002518), Hawaii (#775-0), New York (#002085-01), Oregon (#T2159), and Washington (#LF61259122). I offer psychotherapy via video for clients throughout those states, and provide spiritual counseling for individuals everywhere.
I invite you to call or text me at (323) 309-5350 or email me at dkerrone@gmail.com if you’d like to have an initial 20-minute video consultation, free of charge.
